My favorite piece in the fair ^ (●´ω`●) ◎[▪‿▪]◎This was my first time experiencing Felix Art Fair in Los Angeles. Located and hosted at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, galleries are assigned rooms within the hotel to showcase their work on display. Each gallery had their own hotel room. The hotel furniture was present in the space. It was a literal dance of fine art and hotel room aesthetics. I hated it. It was an awkward experience walking around the hallways bobbing in and out of hotel room doors while bumping into other art goers in the cramped hallways. For me, it was almost too casual. I had no expectations going to Felix- I was forewarned from my colleagues prior- and wanted to mainly just experience a different style art fair to really see how horrible it could be. I was extremely irritated and bothered seeing fine art hanging in bathrooms above a public toilet. Reflecting now it probably shines some conventionality for the viewer and buyer, but in my opinion, a simple white wall is enough for me to absorb the visual integrity of a work. I made the best out of the experience and forced myself to stay positive throughout the entire layout of the fair, and the 11th and 12th floor elevator rides. In recent contemporary art making, I have been gravitating towards works that are micro in nature. I also love air brush visual aesthetics within image making and the tool itself used as a painting process. ^These photorealistic micro paintings were also extremely appetizing to see in person. Presented on top of a countertop island floating in a hotel bathroom... I wish they were hung on the wall for better viewing pleasure. You had to already have an attraction to playing cards in your visual vocabulary to even notice them from how thoughtless they were thrown in the space.

This year for Valentine's Day I hand built a few clay hearts with a painted doodle for fun. I attached some string to each so that they could be hung from a wall or mirror or displayed in a loved one's home. Baked in my mini toaster oven, I sealed each KALE Valentine with glossy varnish so that they could essentially last forever- not just on Valentine's Day this year! Timeless and Forever, Loved by Kale Yesterday was my first time vending at the famous Rosebowl Flea Market in Pasadena, California. I started off in the Antique and Collectibles Section. Creating a mini gallery inside my tent with my paintings and prints, the only downside was the wind during the day that kept me on my toes rearranging the art that got loose from the lines. I had a mini table set up of my clay pins I have been working on as well another table showing more prints and weavings I have up for sale. Two racks- one vintage and one of custom hand painted clothing... as well as a display of collectibles and antiques.
I bought an 80's Japanese Design book this week to use as reference for my digital marketing illustrations that I am in the beginning stages of creating for my online shop update. I have included some of my favorite pages that I want to use as inspiration for composition, text, and product placement.
